"Ph Kontrast" Ceiling Lamp by Poul Henningsen for Louis Poulsen, designed 1962
The "Ph Kontrast" is formed of nine brushed aluminium white and orange lacquered concentric cone shaped parts these are spaced out with purple lacquered brass spacers whilst having a hidden powder-coated blue topside. The bulb holder is adjustable so you can control the light flow, when
lowered the orange parts are lit more and the pendant omits a warmer glow, when raised slightly colder. The pendant, also features chrome plating on the underside of the tiers. The design offers a glare-free glow.
The pendant was discontinued in 1991, mainly due to the complex manufacturing process some of which consisted of 130 paint and finishing applications, each shade had six areas of separate process.
This was a masterpiece from one of the most famous and iconic Danish designers. This pendant is a standout beautiful design.
