A large Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni Designed Viscontea Pendant for Flos, 1960s
Description
The Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni designed Viscontea pendant used at the time a new spray-on coating polymer from the United States, called the “cocoon”.
Invented by the US military during the Second World War to protect shipments at sea after the war the liquid resin cocoon technology was used by Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni to create innovative lighting designs by spraying the material over steel frames.
One of the first designs was the Viscontea you see here which was launched in the early 1960s and became a classic in Italian industrial design.

Condition: The piece is in good vintage condition, only minor age related signs of wear.
The piece has been rewired, safety checked and passed and labelled to this effect.
E27 Edison screw fitting. Will work in countries that use 120v if a 120v bulb is used, so will work in the US.
