Italian architect Vico Magistretti designed the 'Selene' chairs in 1969 for Artemide S.p.A., Milan, Italy.
A Selene chair can be used both in and outdoors and are very robust being made of injection-moulded polyester and reinforced with fiberglass. The chair was made in a single mould, one-piece moulded chairs offered fast production compared to other techniques. A
feature of the Selene chair both from an ascetic and strength prospective are the S-shape legs, offering rigidity whilst keeping the chair lightweight. The chairs also stack beautifully due to the shape of the seat and backrest.
The Selene chair features in the design collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York & other leading museums around the world. The Selene chair was also shown at the 1972 exhibition “Italy: the New Domestic Landscape” at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
