A pair of Gatto Piccolo Table Lamps designed in the 1960s by Achille & Pier Giacomo Castiglioni which used at the time a new spray-on coating polymer from the United States called the “cocoon”.
Invented by the US military during the Second World War to protect shipments at sea after the war the liquid resin cocoon technology was used by Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni to create innovative lighting designs by
spraying the material over steel frames.
Sitting on a wooden base with a metal rod diffuser wrapped in the "Cocoon" membrane and fully rewired using braided flex the lights are in good vintage condition with just one small hole present in the base of one light. Whilst they are in good condition, they are many decades old so wear and patina commensurate with age should be expected.
Dimensions:
Diameter 20 cm / 7.87 inches
Height 30 cm / 11.81 inches
E14 Edison screw fitting. Can be used in the USA.
