Gli Scacchi Pieces by Italian architect Mario Bellini for C&B Italia, 1971
Description
A set of two pieces from the Gli Scacchi series, translated meaning ‘The Chess’ designed in 1971 by renowned Italian architect Mario Bellini. These are early pieces that were manufactured by C&B Italia before the company was renamed B&B Italia in 1973 after Piero Ambrogio Busnelli took over Cassina's shares in the company.
The Gli Scacchi series is designed to offer versatility and the ability to interconnect the pieces whilst both working as side tables and also seating as they are constructed from slightly soft, self-supporting polyurethane.
Condition: The pieces are in very good vintage condition, with some light signs of wear and use but well within what should be expected as commensurate for age. Original C&B labels are still present to the base which also demonstrates early production.
