Pierre Guariche Tulip Chair, Cast Aluminum, Steiner Meubles, Paris, 1954
Description
A Pierre Guariche cast aluminium "Tulip" chair dating from the 1950s. With the metal being cast there is a rawness and imperfect finish to the seat that adds wonderful character.
Its curved shell offers a very comfortable sitting position. This chair is sometimes listed as "Tonneau" chair.
In overall good vintage condition, some signs of wear. Other than the natural imperfections of cast metal which is an important aspect of the design there are odd scrapes to the legs and the chair shell has an area that has been filled, we suspect this was a result of a hole when the chair was cast and then filled as part of the manufacturing process - we have priced the piece accordingly.
